Paper Presented at IEEE GLOBECOM 2025, Taipei — ONCO-LLM: AI for Cancer Patient Quality of Life

Research from Advanced Media Lab was presented at IEEE GLOBECOM 2025 — the IEEE Global Communications Conference held in Taipei, Taiwan, one of the flagship venues in communications and computing research with thousands of attendees from academia and industry worldwide.

The presented paper introduced ONCO-LLM, a novel large language model (LLM) framework designed to intelligently assess cancer patient Quality of Life (QoL) through automated processing of Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREM) and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROM). The system enables clinicians to extract meaningful, structured insights from unstructured patient narratives, supporting more personalised and responsive oncology care.

This work exemplifies the application of generative AI to critical healthcare challenges, representing a significant contribution to the emerging field of AI-augmented clinical support systems.
